Keith Dougherty - From The Heart

I too was a product of corporate America.  All the same questions you saw on the first page, that was me to the max.  I walked down the guided path as so many people have before me.

After high school I went to college and decided to go into the business.  This is what I thought I had a passion for at the time.  After completing college I worked for about ten years in corporate America as a MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).  Now don't get me wrong, I made a good living and I thought I enjoyed this line of work.

After creating a lot of success in that field, my heart was not in it.  I was looking for something more.  So I started doing some soul searching, what did I really want to do, what was my passion.

Well, I came to the decision at that time that I wanted to follow my boyhood dream of becoming a police officer.  Now living in NY at the time, getting into law enforcement was not a very easy thing to do.  Even if you had all of the qualifications, the civil service

process is very long and drawn out.

So I looked to other states, and since I had in-laws in Florida, that seemed like a great place to be a cop.  Nice warm weather, no more winters, that was definitely for me.  So I applied and I was hired by two of the top agencies in the state.  I accepted a position and I was off to the police academy.

I was on top of the world again, I had that passion for going to work everyday.  I got up early, shined my boots, made sure my uniform was absolutely perfect.  I was in heaven.

After four years of full-time service, and the rather low salary, I stated to wonder if this was the job that I was really put on the earth to do.  Was this my true life purpose.

During my time as a cop I met a guy that had a lot of experience in running his own business.  So we decided to start our own company.  I left law enforcement full-time so that I could focus on my new business.  I knew that this was it, this is what would be the be all end all for me.  I had always dreamed of owning my own business, being the boss.  This was my chance to be the man in charge and make the fortune.

In the beginning the business was booming.  We had company vehicles, we had employees, things were on track.  We signed a new contract with a big corporate company and we were on our way.

We dedicated hours and hours and all of our resources to maximizing this contract.  We helped bail the company out of a very deep hole that they were left in by a previous company.  We were loyal and we thought they were loyal to us for all of the hard work that we did for them.  We had exclusive rights to the entire South Florida coast.

So now that I was running my own business, I did not put in a typical 8 hour day like I did as a cop, I was working from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day, including weekends.  I was burning out fast, but I knew it was worth it because it was my company.

Then the day came when that big corporate company called.  They wanted to talk.  Even though we had bailed them out and had been running smoothly for almost two years, they decided to spilt up our area and bring in more companies.  So needless to say our business dropped 80% within about a two month timeframe.

The lesson I learned was that no matter how loyal you are as an employee or as a company that loyalty does not get returned.  In today's corporate climate there is no loyalty anymore.

Talk about being scared out of my mind.

Having a wife and kids and bills to pay, what do I do now.  I started to pray everyday and I looked for an answer.

One day my prayers were answered and the light was shined on my again.  I was given a new purpose and a new passion for what I had to do.

That brings me to today.  You are probably wondering what it is that I do now.  I wear many hats during my day, but with each one there is joy in my heart and passion in everything I do.

My day starts with my husband hat.  I get to see my beautiful wife.  I then get to put on my dad hat.  Get the girls up and get them ready for school and get them to the bus.

Now I get to put on my training hat.  Everyday I read and learn more about positive affirmations and new trends in the market place.

Then depending on how the day is scheduled I could be wearing my mentor hat, or my student hat if I am speaking to one of my personal mentors.

The bottom line is you can see that does not sound like a typical day. I am not up and running to get ready to get in the car and rush off to a corporate office.  I set my own schedule at my own pace and enjoy the things in life that are important.

I help people who went down a road similar to mine.  I help people who are sick of working for someone else, who are fed up with padding someone else's pocket while they are scrambling just to make ends meet.  I help people who want to see their kids grow up and take an active role in their lives.

I help others and I can help you if you are looking for a change in your life.  I can help you find that passion that you once had and you too can have it all.

Now given the fact that I work personally with you, I have to limit the number of people that I work with.  I take a personal interest in your success and there is a screening process that you will have to go through to make sure that you are serious and that you are worth me investing my time in you.  This is not for everybody, you have to be dedicated and motivated to want to make a change in your life.

If this sounds like you and you would like to be considered for my personal attention you can fill out an interest form and I will contact you to setup a one-on-one interview.

If you are ready to come walk with me, I will walk with you.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your true success in life.
